I was a potter in 1974 when I joined a group of artists to start the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria Va. I continued to throw pots for a decade or more then morphed into printmaking and painting, absorbing mark making tools of those media and having a blast. In 2022 I hit a wall. I was uninspired and stuck as a painter, and searched for something to break the logjam.

In March 2023 I signed up for a handbuilding ceramics course at the Art League and fell in love with clay again.

Since then I have been committed to exploring the medium and finding my voice in clay again. In 2024 I set a goal of entering some national ceramic shows and continuing to refine my handbuilding skills. I'm happy to share that thus far I have been accepted into three cup shows, one each in Philadelphia, Savannah, and Somerville MA.
